the port

The city of Long Beach has long since had a reputation for being a busy working class city, predominantly due to the bustling shipyard that makes it so recognizable. With that said, Long Beach's port is one of the busiest and I was beyond thrilled to see a shop pop up in my neighborhood baring that exact name. Port is a store founded by three thirty-something talented and creative driven men who have made some big impressions in the action sports industry, namely skateboarding and decided to put their experience to the test and so far, it's a hit. Most of their merchandise is for men, but they do carry a small women's line as well and my favorite item, their own private label shirts.

Not only do they have a solid brand but they know how to keep it cohesive; From their window display backdrops which are photos of old containers to wooden pallet displays and industrial pipe shelves, and vintage wooden oars to add character. It might even be true to say that on occasion they give brews as you shop, but you didn't hear that from me. My recommendation to you is, if you're in the area, stop by. Port is a nice shop with even nicer people.
