fancy meeting you

I attended a few fun events in the past few months and have started myself a nice business card collection. As a visual person myself, I take interest in looking through the cards I've collected and seeing what these cards say about the person/business. I've enjoyed and been inspired by these cards and thought it only fitting to share them along with one designed by yours truly as well.

{inspiration} simplistic design

Now that the uber stressful holiday season is over, I am madly focusing on adding to my etsy shop. I have been doodling up a storm with fun hand drawn designs and new ideas for sweet petite paper goods. My main inspiration for new designs is simplistic and chic. I want simple designs that make a big impact. I want to WOW you in one look if you know what I mean. So back to work I go, but here is a bit of visual candy and my latest inspiration for you.

{inspiration} watercolor

After visiting the aquarium yesterday, I left with an abundance of inspiration and a wicked itch for some watercolor. Recently, watercolor has been catching my eye in all sorts of ways. The fluidity of the colors and unpredictability of the medium is what is so appealing. Especially when you mostly work on materials that need to fit in a box with very specific guidelines. It's so refreshing to break away from the norm every once in awhile and watercolor gives you the power to. I smell a new piece for the apartment brewing!

the letter lady

While decorating our little house and scouring every outlet to find something that both myself and the boyfriend would like was definitely a challenge, as our tastes couldn't be more opposite. The one thing we do see eye to eye on is our love for design, the reason we met in the first place and my love for type has never been the same. In our ventures to spice up our walls, I was reintroduced to this amazing lady and I can't stop drooling over her letter forms. Aside from the daily drop cap project which the following prints were made from, everything on her site is awe-inspiring.

That ampersand is my absolute favorite! And to top it off, she has the coolest tattoo that she drew herself of course!

folky design

In the design realm, there are times when inspiration is fully and readily available and other times when you're in a serious slump. Since I haven't been 100% focused on that part of my life, I have definitely fell victim to the later and have been on a major mission to fix it. I have been on the visual hunt for simple and clever design with a distinct purpose. Here is only one set of designs that I found inspiring.

A summer dinner concert series combing fine dinning, wine, and folk music.
